This time I had an excuse for not writing.

This time I had an excuse for not writing.

I let another week go by since posting last. This time it’s not related to writer’s block; I have a head full of articles screaming to be set free, and they will be in due course. It’s just that I have been a little busy.

I explained it to Zillow’s Drew Meyers in my typical 40,000 words or less style. I also touched on the thing that has been keeping me a little busy lately on Inman News this morning.

The challenges of starting an independent company aside, simply changing affiliations today has become a little more complicated since so much of our office is now located somewhere in cyberspace. In the old days, we just grabbed our stapler and two-hole punch and moved on. Now, I have a fun-filled week ahead trying to remember where I put all my social networks and on-line marketing and updating my profiles there. Give me through the weekend and then, if you happen upon one of my breadcrumbs that I missed cleaning up, please let me know!

I am SO proud of you guys! Congrats on taking the plunge.

Through the weekend? Ha! It’s been over six months since we went solo and I still stumble across something every now and then.

You may want to start with Inman… ;)

JD – Thanks!
Jay – Of course you know that you were our inspiration. As for Inman, I did ask that favor two days ago, but I think they lost the memo. (I am learning that going independent is a process, not an event.)

About time, guys !!!! :)

Kris and Steve:

Congratulations (and back to work). I left BigLaw three years ago and started a boutique firm. Best decision I have ever made (except for marrying Mrs. Smithers, in case she sees this).

And, just in time for taxes to be raised on the successfully self-employed! (Perhaps you can be the JoeBroker thorn in Obama’s side.)

Congrats!!!

To all, thanks!

(Smithers – Good recovery on the “Mrs. Smithers” crack, if that is her real name. :) I often make cracks about Steve here, but I am comfortable in the knowledge that he rarely reads the blog.)

Congratulations, Kris and Steve, on your decision to be broker-owners!
Wishing you much continued success-

Rita

I actually do read this (occasionally – for liability reasons) and I, too, appreciate all of the positive reinforcement from all. Thank you. It should be a fun ride.

Rita – Thanks for stopping by!
Steve – If I didn’t know better, I would say you just called me a liability. :(

So I’ve not checked in lately and upon first glance something is amiss….hmmmmm. Is it Kris’ hair in the property lottery line? No. Is it an appearance, ANY appearance by Steve? No…it must just be the blur of my firing 16 or 17 listings this week and more blue at the top of this page.

Seriously all the best in your new venture. I’d send Maalox but it may not help. Great success to you both!

P.S. JT…scope or not, Texas is going down Saturday.
