The city will continue it's slow march to recovery, because that's what we do. The city will continue to welcome visitors with open arms, because that's what we do (and better than most too). Every person who visits, whether for business or pleasure, helps in the recovery efforts of our tourist dependant economy. Thank you for coming and for letting your readers know that although there is still so much work to be done NOLA is open for business.

[...] This gal is one of the best real estate bloggers on the internet. She’s based in San Diego and really does an excellent job. I think her blog even has awards from people that matter. I just enjoy reading her. She’s been in New Orleans with her daughter. Anyone that’s been here for any period of time knows how much this matters to me. She spells it out beautifully. Another nice job by the Bush Administration. [...]

I was in The Crescent City, some 10 years ago. Vibrant, fun, packed with happy, smiling people.

This is a good reminder that the work isn't done there...yet

It was almost three years ago now. And it is like a grieving widow - every day gets easier, but there are no easy days. Not yet, at least. Please come back and visit and bring your friends. And make sure you get your gumbo at Liuzza's by the Track...

Thanks for sharing this Kris, what a fabulous perspective you provided.

I've only been to New Orleans once, *very* pre-Katrina. My college room mate and I hitchhiked from Galveston to New Orleans for the weekend (those were far different times...). It is indeed a wonderful city with an amazing culture.

It's easy to forget what happened there almost two years ago, and I suspect unless one has seen it up close like you have, there is really no way to relate to the devastation.

Thanks for sharing.
